2 Mile Ranch in Woody Creek, Colo., Has 7 Homes Over 245 Acres

Aspen’s ski scene and mountainous landscape might be all the rage for adventurous travelers. But not even its popular Snowmass Ski Resort matches the kind of freedom and privacy found eight miles away at 2 Mile Ranch, an epic 245-acre compound in Woody Creek that’s now listed with Raifie Bass of Douglas Elliman for $68 million.

The picturesque spread in the Roaring Fork Valley dates back to the late 1880s, when the land was owned by the Natal family, who settled in Aspen in the late 19th century. Today, there are seven custom-built residences sprinkled across the property, and together they offer 22 bedrooms, 18 bathrooms, and eight powder rooms. Each bespoke home boasts both fun and functional features, such as secret passages and a four-person bunk room. The views of White River National Forest aren’t too shabby, either.

The Cottage House kitchen features rough-cut stone counters and an arched fireplace set into a stacked stone wall.

Three of the estate’s standout residences include Estate House, Craftsman House, and Cottage House. At 5,850 square feet, Estate House is the largest of the accommodations and was designed in a mountain contemporary style with sloping roof lines, metal accents, and an emphasis on natural materials like wood and stone. It offers five bedrooms and baths, as well as a private pool and hot tub.

Craftsman House, which feels the most modern of all seven houses, is located at the north end of the property, alongside the creek that runs through the estate. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms within its 4,250 square feet, and its open-air design is complimented by vaulted ceilings. Slightly smaller but still quite spacious, Cottage House spans 3,650 square feet with three bedrooms and two baths. Stone and wood materials bring the outside in. Other highlights of the Hobbit-like structure include an antique elevator and secret passages.

Woody Creek, which runs the length of the ranch, supplies water to 60-plus acres of irrigated pastures, ponds, and water features. Naturally, the landscape attracts wildlife year-round, which could include deer, moose, and birds of prey.

In addition to other outdoor amenities such as a tennis court, easily accessible walking trails, a large gazebo, and a fire pit, deeded entitlements to build stables and barns will come in handy for equestrians. And the 10-year vesting rights that transfer with the property also afford the opportunity to build an additional 10,000 square feet of living space.
