Besting the Dodge Durango Limited, the Toyota 4Runner Trail Premium and Jeep’s Cherokee Trailhawk and Grand Cherokee Limited, the 2014 Range Rover Sport was lauded by Four Wheeler editors for offering sports-car-like responsiveness on pavement while conquering sand, dirt and rocks with ease. To be considered for the award, each SUV needed to have a transfer case with a dedicated low-range gear, a production run of at least 1,500 units and an on-sale date prior to Jan. 15, 2014. The win for the new Range Rover Sport marks the fourth time a Land Rover model has been named Four Wheeler of the Year.

The 2014 Range Rover Sport features a new all-aluminum unibody structure that simultaneously improves handling, comfort and fuel efficiency with its strong-yet-lightweight design. Meanwhile, capability has been enhanced compared to the outgoing model with a 2.3-inch boost in ground clearance, nearly six more inches of wading depth and a next-generation Terrain Response 2 system that uses sensors to automatically adjust the responses of different drive systems to the surface conditions outside.
