Buffalo Trace’s Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. has got a new bourbon that is unlike anything you’ve seen before. The new whiskey uses Amaranth instead of rye as the flavoring grain, a wheat-like grain that imparts a unique flavor profile. The tasting notes describe the 100 proof Bottled-in-Bond bourbon to have “fresh spearmint on the nose, followed by honey, with a hint of cherry. On the palate, coffee and vanilla come through. The finish is long, with oats and honey.”
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr.’s Amaranth release is available now in a limited release and once it’s gone, it’s gone.
