Fort Makers plays around with the notion of the abstract family home with a new project called DREAMHOUSES. The project is an online exhibition—”a digital neighborhood” to be precise—that “explores the idea of what a home is to the creators.” Fort Makers challenged six artists and designers to envision and build their abstract fantasy homes but they could only use materials found in their actual houses. Each creative was then paired with a writer who would write an accompanying text work to go with each of the six final creations.
Fort Makers’ DREAMHOUSES is described as a “refreshing […] analog project” amid many controversial, digitally enhanced ones. In designing the exhibition premise, Fort Makers also drew inspiration from “vivid pandemic-induced dreams.”
