300Magazine is pleased to share the news about the latest exhibition of the renowned Ukrainian artist
Paintings by Iryna Fedorenko Explore Ukrainian Culture and Nature
In Ukrainian culture, mallows symbolize the union between two loving people. Seemingly fragile and unsophisticated, these flowers are often grown in house gardens and are believed to protect families from evil. Mallows became the central image of the new exhibition by Iryna Fedorenko, also known as SEMIRA. In her work, they stand for strength, life, gentleness, and the connection humans form with the nature that surrounds them.
Iryna Fedorenko is a Mariupol-born established artist who currently lives in Munich. The war forced her and her family to leave Ukraine. Today, she shows great resilience and dedication to her passion by continuing to share the beauty of Ukrainian culture with the world. SEMIRA is well-known for her poignant anti-war pieces and the series of portraits of the famous actor and musician
The visit of Austrian Archduchess Gabriela von Habsburg to the Munich gallery became one of the highlights of the exhibition. The archduchess showed her support not only for Ukrainian art as an artist, curator, and sculptor herself but also for the Ukrainian people as a whole.
When the simple joy of looking at beautiful flowers blooming in your garden becomes a distant dream, SEMIRA’s work becomes a powerful reminder of the bright and peaceful future that is to come. It seems that in the context of the recent events that left many Ukrainian people displaced, these paintings gain a whole new meaning. 300Magazine commends Iryna Fedorenko for all the amazing work she does to celebrate Ukrainian culture and wishes her the best of luck with her future projects.
The exhibition “Ukrainian Mallows” is on view at SchauRaum im Ackermannbogen, 9 Therese-Studer-Straße, Munich, Germany, through July 29, 2023.
