Once folded, the user can simply press a handlebar button, which in initiates the electric motor and allows the folded electric bike to simply tag along with the user at walking pace.  Powered by a rear wheel mounted 250 watt electric motor, the Voltitude is capable of achieving a top speed of 15.5 mph when driven in electric assist mode.  The electric motor take up power from an on-board 36 volt lithium-polymer battery that provide not only powers up the front and rear LED  lights, but also enables the Voltitude to dispense a maximum range of 12 to 15 miles, with in-between recharges.

The mind blowing success of 2010 Hollywood blockbuster ‘Tron: Legacy, led to a plethora of luxury Tron merchandise, as well as numerous attempts to bring the fictional Tron realm technology into the real world.  Treading the same waters, the team of renowned custom vehicle designers, Parker Brothers Concepts unveiled their latest creation last year in the form of Tron Electric Lightcycle. This fully electric motorcycle is powered by a 96 volt electric motor, which is equally complemented with a lithium-ion battery pack. Considered to be one of the most expensive electric bikes, the Tron Electric Lightcycle is touted to have a top speed in excess of 100 mph, while featuring a maximum range of 100 miles on a single charge, with a complete battery recharge accomplished in a mere 35 minutes. So far, there has been no word on the pricing of this extraordinary electric motorcycle, however, with the announced specifications, this electric bike could punch a hole in the pocket.

In the month of May this year, electric bikes manufacturer Specialized unveiled its latest offering in the form of the all new Specialized Turbo. Hailed by the company as the world’s fastest e-bike, the Turbo is a direct result of three years of intense research and development. This expensive electric bike is powered by a 250-watt Specialized Turbo Direct Drive rear hub motor, coupled with a 432Wh lithium-ion battery that can attain a full recharge in just two hours. Specialized Turbo has been provided with regenerative braking that greatly helps in extending the bike’s range, while this luxury electric bicycle even comes with handlebar mounted unit which enables the riders to control the LED headlight and tail lights, while also providing them with essential figure, such as that of battery level etc. The Specialized Turbo is crafted from a custom alloy and features carbon fiber Magura hydraulic disc brakes for both the wheels. This electric bike can touch a top speed of 28 mph and has so far been introduced with no announced price tag.
