When it comes to choosing which red carpet fashions are Fabulous and which are Fugly, I rarely have to ponder. I have fast, firm opinions – and no qualms expressing them. This is apparent in my past post-award show fashion rundowns for the Golden Globes, The Emmys, The Oscars and past Grammys. But there were some fashion choices at last night ‘s Grammy Awards that left me utterly confused. Personally I found them tacky, ugly or undeniably unflattering so you can imagine my surprise when I found out this morning that several of them made reputable fashion magazines’ and blogs’ “Best Dressed” lists.
2024 Confusing Grammy Outfits
There are always several drop dead gorgeous ensembles on the red carpet for any entertainment event. The Grammys is no different with the exception that, being the music industry, they tend to be on the sexier side, showing more skin and more tatts than your typical Red Carpet fashions.
As always there were some impeccably dressed Divas. Some of the most flattering and beautiful fashions from last night include those worn by Paris Hilton, Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Janelle Monae, Coco Jones, Olivia Rodrigo, Christina Aguilera and Alexandra Ambrosio. Also worth noting were well-dressed Oprah, Tyla, Taylor Swift, Victoria Monet and these attendees.
While I’ll admit it takes courage to wear something that lacks subtlety, it’s not always a commendable choice. This is the case in the fashions shown below from last night’s show, which are hideous and unflattering and represent a few of the Fuglier options (to see more go here).
While last night’s 66th Grammys had some clear winners and losers when it came to aesthetically appealing choices, there were a few that left me confused. I was so sure these ten odd, tacky and ill-fitting would be scathingly criticized. But, as I mentioned earlier, several of these monstrosities were commended by other publications as the Best of the evening.
And can someone please tell me why Celine Dion wore an overcoat onstage?
