Dolce & Gabbana Refreshes Its Image With Star-Studded Campaigns

Italian haute couture is in high demand as ever, with Dolce and Gabbana presenting big plans for 2024 and beyond. After some controversies in 2018 that resulted in a fallout with their Chinese market, the brand has worked to regain equilibrium in China and worldwide, with evident success.

For one, they have taken the Dolce & Gabbana beauty arm in-house, aiming to increase its value from €1 billion ($1.26 billion) to €3 billion ($3.7 billion) by 2026. Founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have also tapped a strategic inner circle of celebrities to lead their latest campaigns. Here are a few of their newest collaborations:

Kylie Jenner

The fashion duo has longstanding relations with the Kardashian-Jenner clan. They personally opened their home on the Italian Riviera coastline in Portofino to host Kourtney Kardashian’s wedding to Travis Barker in May 2022, and they gave Kim Kardashian the reins to curate her very own Spring 2023 campaign, “Ciao, Kim,” with the brand’s archival pieces. The sisters’ love for the designer brand even sparked a significant conflict plotline on Season 4 of Hulu’s The Kardashians. Shortly after Kim’s campaign and succeeding runway show, the DG Logo Bag was announced, and the youngest Kardashian-Jenner was announced as its face, sporting red and white Dolce & Gabbana logo bags in a sultry campaign.

Michele Morrone

The fashion house is known for espousing the brand’s Italian heritage and highlighting local talent, so their collaboration with Italian actor, model, and singer Michele Morrone was natural. Having shot to fame after his leading turn as Don Massimo Torricelli in the hit Netflix franchise 365 Days, Morrone was tapped in March 2023 alongside Kylie Jenner as ambassadors of the spring/summer Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses collection. Morrone headlines a collection that boasts sportiness and elegance, bringing out the lightness of the male silhouette. He wears the versatile DG4452 model with solid dark grey lenses in a masculine pilot frame. Given that this wasn’t Morrone’s first campaign with the brand, we can expect to see the rising star in more upcoming D&G releases.

Moon Ga-Young

The world’s fashion houses, having seen the impact of the Korean wave in film, TV, and music, have enlisted Korean ambassadors to expand their reach in Asia. Dolce & Gabbana is no exception. Moon Ga-Young is known by many for her leading role in the True Beauty Korean drama series. In November 2023, she was appointed as Dolce & Gabbana’s latest global ambassador. Before the announcement, Moon had appeared in many D&G events, including Milan Fashion Week in September 2023. While in Milan, she spoke of her love for the brand’s beauty offerings, like the Devotion Liquid Lipstick and Extreme Volume Mascara, which she says “truly makes a lot of difference on the eyes.”

Katy Perry

Another lover of the D&G Devotion series is West Coast pop star Katy Perry, who was tapped in October 2023 as the face of the Devotion fragrance. With a top note of candied lemon, middle notes of pannacotta and rum, and base notes of vanilla, the sweet fragrance perfectly aligns with Katy’s bubbly personality and Teenage Dream aesthetic. In the commercial launching the fashion house’s debut fragrance, Katy stars alongside Michele Morrone, who plays her love interest. Katy again promoted the rosé colored scent for Valentine’s Day this year. However, this isn’t the only rosé in the Dolce & Gabbana arsenal; the brand collaborated with Sicily-based winery Donnafugata last September 2023, creating beautifully designed bottles for the Donnafugata Rosa, as well as selections of their red and white wines.

As Dolce & Gabbana continues to champion genuine Italian artistry and craftsmanship, fashion lovers are set to witness more of the brand’s partnerships with the world’s biggest names in the future.
