As part of the show, the established contemporary abstract artist presents four new pieces dedicated to the magnifying beauty of blooming cherry trees. Abstract Artist Vian Borchert Presents Her New Paintings at Lichtundfire
At the center of “The Magical Garden” is the belief that by living in close harmony with nature, humans can reconnect with their long-lost sense of innocence and child-like wonder. Vian Borchert’s sensibility fits in perfectly with the theme of the exhibition. The artist has been surrounded by nature her entire life. She spent her childhood years playing in her family’s gardens and carried her love for the natural world into adulthood when she moved to the Washington, D.C., area. In Vian’s new abstract floral series, the artist revisits the awe she felt when she saw the cherry blossoms bloom and painted them for the very first time in 2015.

Cherry blossom season has been a beloved subject for many artists for centuries. Nevertheless, Vian Borchert still manages to put her spin on the tradition, opting for a more abstract aesthetic that captures the fleeting feeling rather than what causes it.
