Curating chef-led experiences, Krug embarks on first travel partnership

LVMH-owned Champagne house Krug is debuting a series of culinary excursions stateside.

The maison, together with membership-based luxury agency Indagare Travel, has curated a trio of four-day trips involving rosé and cuvée pairing sessions, set to take place this fall. The Krug Indagare Insider Journeys will connect guests and the brand’s global community of chef ambassadors via gastronomic experiences — the destination-based bookings open this month.

“Each itinerary is meticulously crafted to deliver a sensory journey, complemented by exceptional Krug Champagne experiences, at some of our favorite hotels in the U.S.,” said Melissa Biggs Bradley, founder and CEO of Indagare Travel, in a statement.

“These include the finest boutique properties in California, Vermont and Tennessee, each known for their distinctive locations, character, charm and high-touch, authentic service,” Ms. Bradley said. “‘Indagare Insider Journeys: Discover the Krug Single Ingredient’ immerses you in the world of Krug and exquisite locally sourced farm-to-table cuisine (and terroir in its truest sense) — these are extraordinary culinary journeys you won’t find anywhere else.”

Picking flowers
Krug x Single Ingredient offers an annual demonstration of savior-faire (see story). The program, which began in 2015, invites the label’s Ambassade Chefs to infuse various dishes with one particular food.

“With an abundance of forms, flavors and fragrances, the flower is a beautiful symbol of diversity, embodying our spirit of community united by cultivating differences,” said Julie Cavil, cellar master at Krug, in a statement.

In the coming months, Krug’s all-star chefs Matt Kammerer (see story), Cassidee Dabney and Nathan Rich will help attendees forge a deeper connection with nature, providing education about and allowing adventurers to engage with edible flora.

The house will present its Grande Cuvée 172nd Édition and Rosé 28th Édition, which retail for $250 and $425, respectively, in tastings throughout the itineraries. Of the three options, first up is a private open-fire cooking experience set a seaside cove in Elk, California, from Oct. 17-20, 2024.

Farm-to-table dinners and foraging expeditions will kick off in Barnard, Vermont’s countryside on Nov. 11, 2024, and starting Dec. 5, 2024, Krug’s travelers can learn more about flowers in the Great Smoky Mountains in Walland, Tennessee.
