Lotus brings the Type 66 race car to life

Lotus

Meant to be Lotus’ answer for the Can-Am Series, the Type 66 was never produced due to Lotus founder Colin Chapman’s growing focus on F1. 53 years later, the idea has been resurrected with a track car that combines the motorsport styling of the 70s with the performance and safety technologies of today. Capable of keeping up with today’s GT3 cars, the Type 66 is powered by a V8 push-rod engine that produces 818 hp and up 550 lb-ft of torque. Featuring extruded aluminum sections, bonded joints, and and aluminum honeycomb panels to keep things authentic, the Type 66 also features an EPASS motorsport power steering column, a sequential racing gearbox with reverse, a racing-grade ABS braking system, an anti-stall multi-plate clutch, and a fixed rollover bar.

Only 10 will be produced.
