What can one expect to find at the Big Door?

The Big Door is a distinctive store that brings to Mumbai fantastic Indian art, offering the best of Indian jewellery, handcrafted home decor and heritage collectibles.

The store houses Mughal, Nizam and Rajput-inspired jewels, and interior alternates from around the country—silver furniture inspired from the Raj period, marble fountains and jalis, traditional pichwais from Rajasthan, bronze work from south India, Persian calligraphic fauna, antiques and intricate woodwork.

Who are you targeting with this store?

We have a diverse collection in jewellery as well as artifacts. Our target audience is anyone who has an eye for Indian art – collectors, and people who appreciate the craftsmanship of Indian artifacts and jewellery.

What would you consider is your USP that would drive exclusive clients to become part of your loyal customer base?

· We are the only store in Mumbai that will customise something as unique as doors and ceilings for our clients. These are inspired from traditional doors that were used in havelis, forts and palaces of India. The ceilings are inspired from antique mirror and hand painted wooden ceilings that were found in darbars in the mughal era.

· We are one outlet that does a vast and varied collection of silver furniture and artifacts such as sofa sets, thrones with foot stools, roman stools and four poster beds.

· Apart from the silver furniture, ceilings and doors, we make sure not to repeat any of the other artifacts. Once sold to a specific customer, we do not repeat the designs so as to maintain the exclusivity factor for the buyer.

Could you fill us in on the customisation services? Bespoke facades?

· Our bespoke ceilings and doors can be customised in any colour, dimension and design desired by the client. It takes about 45-90 days for the piece to be ready.

· Grand furniture is often picked out for holiday homes. Knowing that properties in Mumbai are insufficient to house large furniture, hence we customise.

· With the silver furniture, we have an after-sales service for our customers where we send a team of professionals to do the cleaning and polishing of the silver furniture.

Bespoke services at The Big Door extend into the realms of ceilings and doors
